More hands!

'Cause I can't resist!

Hands!

My sculpture is starting to feel done-ish. Perhaps next week I'll start casting it in plaster!

Party too hard?

This guy was hanging from the telephone wires near my house--guess he didn't quite make it home to the botanic gardens this morning!

Huge rain storms yesterday

From the Sydney Morning Herald. Very fast moving water in the streets, perhaps six inches? And thunder and lightning right overhead. It was dramatic and a little bit scary...

Oh, and the roof leaked again.

Bats!!!

Yes, those black dots on the trees are thousands of bats, hanging upside down as they sleep away the day. Next challenge is to get some good photos of their silhouettes in the sky at dusk... I may need a better camera for that one (but I have been thinking hard about a better camera recently).

NB: These are definitely worth clicking on for close-ups. You can really see their wonderful bat-bodies wrapped in garbage-bag wings.

Sun!!!

Two whole days of sun ... and clean sun-fresh laundry to boot!

Tease

This morning was gloriously Sydney-sunny and then by sculpture class it was pouring again. Boo.

FYI

Eucalyptus oil-based household cleaning spray is a fabulous ant killer.

Ugh

It's been raining so much over the past few days that I have to watch out for leeches in my bathroom again...

Fun things in my backyard at dusk

Last night I had two cool nature experiences while taking in the laundry. First, it sounds an awful lot like a frog has taken up residence in the bushes at the back of the garden. Second, it was dusk and in silhouette I watched an Australian Magpie chase and then catch some sort of moth. It was cool because I could even see the moth...
